Abstract

This research aims to determine and describe the social interactions of deaf children at the inclusive school Rumah Ceria Medan (RCM) located on Jalan Bunga Teratai No. 41 Y Padang Bulan Selayang Village, Medan Selayang District, Medan City. This research uses a qualitative approach with the research subjects including deaf children at Rumah Selamat Medan. The data collection techniques used are interview, observation and documentation methods. The data analysis technique used is interviewing teachers from the inclusive Rumah Selamat Medan school and observing deaf students. The results of the research show that deaf children are able to establish social interactions with fellow deaf people, normal children, teachers, and also accompanying teachers. Social interaction is shown by having conversations, eating together, playing together, studying together, working together and so on. The efforts that have been made by class teachers to improve the social interaction skills of deaf children are: placing deaf children to sit with normal children, involving deaf children in teaching and learning, always providing praise and motivation, and providing direction to other children to understand the child's condition. deaf people so they can make good friends.
