Work discipline is the key to the success of a company or organization with a human resource policy in currying out its work duties. Work discipline is needed by every employee, because it is a means to train the personality of employees so that they always show good performance. This is very important in influencing the improvement of employee performance at the social service of Nort Sumatera Provinsi. The subject of this research is the social service of Nort Sumatera Province. The types and sources of data studied are primary data, the techniques used by the author in collecting the required data are observation, questionnaires and literature study. From the results of research conducted by the author at the social service of Nort Sumatera Province, the form of discipline applied is preventive discipline and corrective disciplin. The implementation of work discipline at the sosial service of Nort Sumatera Province is still not good where there are still employees who arrive late to the office so that the work is not completed on time, return before office hours end, this has an effect on improving employee performance.
